The Stinking Rose

October 21, 2020

The Fall season brings falling leaves, shorter days, cooler weather, pumpkins, and garlic.

Garlic? Yes, garlic – a.k.a. the stinking rose. We celebrate Halloween on October 31st and those scary vampires are repelled by garlic. Hmmm… how in the world was that connection made? Let’s talk garlic, shall we?

Garlic Lore

Garlic fact check (because scaring non-existent vampires is not a fact!): garlic contains allicin, a potent antibiotic and anti-fungal agent, and has been proven to kill mosquitos—i.e., real-world vampiric insects. It’s also used extensively in pickling produce and, much like salt, the compounds in garlic can ward off decay. It’s a natural antibiotic and if used properly, it can kill most infections. Before the invention of modern antibiotics, garlic reigned supreme as a way to cure infections.

Back to vampires: centuries ago, various European cultures believed garlic would ward off everything from the black plague to evil spirits to blood sucking mosquitoes and fleas. Since a vampire’s bite initially has the same effect on humans as a malaria-infected mosquito—exhaustion, fever and anemia—a natural connection between the two was made.

Finally, garlic has always been in the Juice Plus+ Garden Blend. By taking these JP+ Greenies you get all the benefits of garlic in your system with none of that fragrant garlic breath!

History of PEMF

We’ve shared often about pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMF) and the health benefits it can provide.

The Bemer delivery system for PEMF we represent was first available in Europe 21 years ago and through North American distribution just three years ago. So you might think PEMF is a brand new therapy.

Actually PEMF therapy has a history extending back to the 1700’s, including early on by Nicola Tesla up through the 21st century with current applications for our NASA space program.

Take a brief video journey through the evolution of PEMF technology for health and wellness.
